The non-cosmetic benefits of botulinum toxin (Dysport, Botox and Xeomin are the registered brands in South Africa) are far reaching. Dr Bianca has extensive experience using Dysport and Botox to manage excessive sweating (face, armpit, hands and feet), teeth grinding (Bruxism) and jaw clenching, chronic migraines and tension headaches.
The dose of botulinum toxin (Dysport, Botox or Xeomin) for medical use is usually higher than cosmetic use. Results from medical botulinum toxin treatments can take 5 – 14 days to take effect and generally last anything from 4-6 months, depending on the number of units used.
Please note that many medical aids will reimburse part or all of the cost of medically indicated Dysport or Botox treatments. It is worthwhile checking with your medical aid to see if they cover the use of Dysport or Botox injections, especially if you have excessive sweating or bruxism. Let us know if you plan to claim from your medical aid after settling your account with us and we, at Alphen Aesthetics Clinic, will invoice you accordingly.
